Help the Environment and Your School
Help Lincoln County Schools and the environment by recycling your unwanted textiles, which includes clothing, shoes, linens, curtains, coats, and more, in any condition, by placing them in one of the textile recycle bins located at a local school.  Each year, 13.1 million tons of textile waste is generated in the US.  This material generates over 28 million pounds of CO2 each year. For every 490 pounds of textiles a school collects, they will receive money to spend on educational needs.  From now until December 1, the school in the district that collects the most textiles will also receive an additional $1000.

Contact your school for more information about the program.

Hometown Hero

In conjunction with area school systems, the Charlotte law firm of Charles G. Monnett III & Associates announces the Hometown Hero Teacher Appreciation Program.  To recognize the commitment our teachers make to their students, the law firm has chosen to award a monthly $250 Visa Gift Card to a deserving teacher in Mecklenburg and surrounding counties to be used for classroom supplies during the upcoming school year.

Students, families, faculty and anyone from the community may nominate and vote for their favorite teacher by visiting the web page www.carolinalaw.com and click on the “Vote” button. Nominations are now open.
