Roberto Enrique Clemente Walker was a professional baseball player from Puerto Rico who competed for 18 seasons in Major League Baseball with the Pittsburgh Pirates, primarily serving as a right fielder.

Clemente was an exceptional five-tool player, renowned for his outstanding contact hitting, strong throwing arm, and agile defensive plays in right field. On September 30, 1972, he solidified his legacy in baseball history by reaching his 3,000th career hit, becoming the first Latin American player to attain this milestone.

Major League Baseball annually commemorates Roberto Clemente's significant legacy on September 15th, aligning with the commencement of Hispanic Heritage Month, through the observance of Roberto Clemente Day. Additionally, the league awards the esteemed Roberto Clemente Award each year to the active MLB player who best demonstrates exceptional character, community engagement, and philanthropic efforts.
