Please discuss the following guidelines with your child:

  • Devices are to be used for educational purposes only.

  • Students are expected to bring their Chromebook fully charged each day.

  • Make sure your child’s hands are clean before using the Chromebook.

  • Do not draw, write, or put stickers on the Chromebook.

  • Screens can shatter and other damage can occur if not handled properly. 

  • If a device is broken or not working properly, contact your child’s teacher.

  • Failure to return the device will result in the responsible party being billed for the replacement cost.

General Care

  • Keep the device away from food and drink.

  • Insert and remove the charger carefully.

  • Close the screen when carrying the Chromebook.

  • Close or shut down the Chromebook when not in use to conserve battery life.

  • Do not expose the Chromebook to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for extended periods of time.

  • Never leave the Chromebook in an unsecure location.

  • Do not remove or attempt to alter the serial number or school barcode.

  • Do not try to remove the keys or plastic case.

  • Do not place anything on the Chromebook that could put pressure on the screen.

  • Do not poke the screen with any object not intended to be used with a touchscreen.

  • Do not place anything on the keyboard before closing the lid (pens, pencils, etc.)

  • Do not use window cleaner or water to clean the Chromebook.

Cleaning a Chromebook

  • Do not spray a cleaner directly on the Chromebook.

  • Spray an electronics-approved cleaner directly on the cloth and then wipe down the device.

Internet Rules and Expectations

Lincoln County Schools’ Acceptable Use Agreement must be followed at all times (see Board Policy 3225/7320-R on www.lincoln.k12.nc.us under Policy Manual)

  • My child and I have read and will comply with the Lincoln County Schools Chromebook Usage Agreement, and the Lincoln County Schools Acceptable Use Policy (3225/7320-R)

  • Parent/Guardian accepts responsibility for any damage that may result from my child using the Chromebook, which may result in monetary charges.

  • Chromebooks must be returned at the end of the school year.  I understand that I will be charged for any missing equipment.

  • LCS Technology Services will make the final determination of cost and replacement fees.
