Summer Reading Time Machine 2026. 7 decades of stories, one unforgettable summer! Lincoln County Public Library Elementary Programs (Rising 1st - 5th Grade).  Program Descriptions: Play Ball! (1967): Step up to the plate and read your way to the big leagues! Join us for a week celebrating all things athletic! In addition to sports-themed sand art, magnets & sun visors don't forget to pick up a book, earn your minutes, and knock it out of the park this summer! Discover America (1974): From sea to shining sea, there's a whole country waiting to be explored—and it starts at the library! We'll be diving into the stories, history, people, and places that make America's 250th anniversary amazing. Visit the Oregon Trail, pan for gold, design pottery and discover something new about the incredible country we call home! Make Tracks! (1988): We are on the trail of the most amazing creatures—from the tiny paw prints of backyard critters to the thundering footsteps of mighty dinosaurs! Who knows what you'll discover when you follow the tracks? Help create fossils, amber slime and so much more! Don't forget to grab a cool animal book to earn your stripes! Camp Read-a-lot (1994): Venus Flytrap puppets, bottle lanterns & cool terrariums are just some of the awesome things you will create. At Camp Read-a-Lot, the adventures are endless. Dive into tales of outdoor survival, silly cabin pranks, magical forests, and friendships that last a lifetime. Get a Clue (2000): Calling all detectives, sleuths, and super solvers! The mysteries are piling up and only the best readers can crack the case. Dive into sneaky whodunits, puzzling adventures, and stories full of twists and surprises. Remember to join us for our mysterious decoder, Morse code & fingerprint crafts! Fizz, Boom, Read (2014): This summer, we're mixing reading with science. Come make a pendulum, fizzy bath bombs, & colorful geodes! Discover books about volcanoes, crazy experiments, outer space, creepy crawlies, and more. Lincoln County Public Library has announced its 2026 Summer Reading Programs for rising 1st through 5th-grade students. This year's theme is "Summer Reading Time Machine," featuring weekly activities spanning seven decades of stories. The fun kicks off on Tuesday, June 9, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Citizens Center with a live DJ, games, and face painting.
