Good afternoon S. Ray Lowder families. This is Principal Kelly Saine with your weekly update and reminders. I hope you all have enjoyed the holiday break and were able to usher in the new year spending quality time with your families. Monday and Tuesday of this week are teacher workdays, and we look forward to welcoming our students back to school on Wednesday. I would advise using Monday and Tuesday to get students back into the routine of an early wake-up time and bedtime free of TV and electronics, so they are prepared for a good start on Wednesday. Please be advised that we have some very cold temperatures heading our way and dress students accordingly. Report cards will go home this week on Thursday. You should review these carefully and contact your child’s teacher if you have questions or concerns. Our Fun Friday Fundraiser this week will be Seat Swap Passes. Students may purchase these for $1 on Friday morning to switch seats with a classmate for the day. Please listen carefully to the following important general information reminders. We still have lots of parents who have not updated student information in PowerSchool. If you have not done so already, please visit the Lincoln County Schools webpage and click on “Enrollments” followed by “Returning Student Verification” to complete this information. Please contact the office if you need assistance. Also, please remember the importance of good “bell to bell” attendance for the success of all students. While it may seem counterproductive, it is essential as we enter into the height of flu season that you keep your children home and seek medical care when they are sick. This will help to keep the spread of contagious illnesses at a minimum. When students become ill at school, we are happy to offer Atrium Telehealth appointments which are great for testing and treating common illnesses such as flu, strep throat, and other upper respiratory illnesses. This allows students to be seen and treated quickly with minimal inconvenience to parents as parents can attend the appointment virtually or by phone. As a reminder, good nutrition is part of keeping students healthy, and we are happy to offer free breakfast and lunch to all students. While adequate hydration is equally important and avoiding water fountains can prevent the spread of germs, we want to remind students that ONLY water is allowed at school. Please do not send other drinks in water bottles. Even powdered drink mixes leave a sticky mess if they are spilled on the bus or in the classroom. This has become an issue lately, and teachers have been reminded to have students pour out other drinks and refill their bottles with water. As always, thank you for your support in making SRL a great place to learn and grow as young adults. Have a great afternoon!
