Good afternoon S. Ray Lowder families. This is principal Kelly Saine with your weekly updates and reminders. Thank you to all those who registered for School Store last week. This is an easy way for you to purchase school supply items for your students while also supporting the school. We will begin our annual World’s Finest Chocolate Sale this week. These are seriously delicious candy bars that families can sell for $1 to help support our PTO playground project. Students will bring home information this week regarding sales and prizes and must have a signed permission form to bring home a box of candy bars. Funds must be returned for one box before students can receive another. Students should not attempt to sell these door to door or to strangers in any capacity. We appreciate you taking them to work, church, and other businesses, but please do not allow students to sell them independently. This week is National School Counseling Week, and we are appreciative of everything Mr. Taylor does to support our students and families. Please have your students take a moment to express thanks with a note or other small kind gesture. Tuesday, February 4th, is our 100th day of school! Students are invited to dress as if they are 100 years old or decorate a shirt or hat with 100 items to celebrate this milestone in our school year. We all enjoy seeing our little grandpas and grannies come into the building! Students will enjoy fun classroom activities to celebrate the hundredth day, but it is also a reminder that our time is running out to squeeze in every bit of instruction and academic growth for the year. You can help by making sure your child always gets a good night’s sleep, is at school on time, reads at home daily, and completes homework assignments. On Wednesday, fifth graders will go to Catawba Science Center for an interactive field trip. Parents of fifth graders should be sure to return permission forms and payment tomorrow morning if you haven’t already done so. On Friday, counselors from Lincolnton Middle School will be at Lowder to assist fifth grade students in registering for elective classes. All fifth grade students living in the LMS district will automatically be enrolled at LMS for the 25-26 school year. Any students who wish to go to LMS and live outside their district will need to complete a transfer request when the window opens in March. Our Fun Friday Fundraiser this week will be Seat Swap Passes for $1. Looking ahead to NEXT week, our K-2 Valentine Dance will be held after school on February 12th and 3-5 will be held on February 13th. Students will bring home permission forms this week and must return those along with payment to be able to stay for the dances next week. I hope you all enjoy the rest of this beautiful afternoon, and we look forward to welcoming our students back tomorrow morning.
