Good evening S. Ray Lowder families. This is Principal Kelly Saine with your weekly updates and reminders. Report cards were sent home with students on Friday. Please review these carefully before signing and returning to school tomorrow. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have questions or concerns. Our PTO board will meet on Monday afternoon to finalize plans for our end of year activities and discuss fundraising updates for our playground project. All PTO members are invited to attend. As you know, we are reaching out to local businesses to seek sponsors for our playground project. Please spread the word and let us know if you need additional information or  sponsorship forms. Also, we are still in need of volunteers to assist with duty free lunch each month and serve as student mentors or reading buddies. Please follow our PTO Facebook page to receive updated information for additional volunteer opportunities. We would love to have more parental involvement in support of our students and staff. Please call the office if you have questions or may be interested in becoming more involved. On Tuesday, our third graders will take a field trip to Hart’s Square to experience the lifestyle of early settlers in our area. Be sure you have signed the permission slip for your student and check Apptegy for any field trip updates. Also on Tuesday, we will partner with Goodwood Pizza to fundraise for our PTO playground project. Please visit Goodwood for lunch or dinner on Tuesday. Let them know you are with SRLE, and we will receive a portion of their proceeds. They have delicious pizza and impeccable service so eating from Goodwood on Tuesday will be a win for everyone! Please spread the word to your family and friends as well.  On Tuesday evening, a team of staff members will be competing in the Rotary Club’s annual Battle of the Brains Trivia Competition. The funds generated from this event provide very low interest college loans for deserving Lincoln County Students and assist with tuition for those attending local community colleges. We have paid our $100 registration fee with school funds, but teams also have the opportunity to “buy back” additional rounds after missing a question. Please let us know if you are interested in supporting our local Rotary Club’s efforts by donating $25 for “buy back” rounds for our team. On Thursday, our fifth graders will travel to the Lincolnton Citizens Center for a performance by our North Carolina Symphony. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and is free to all LCS fifth graders. Students will need a signed permission slip to attend and should dress in the best attire for the trip. Our February and March Terrific Kids will be recognized at assemblies on Friday afternoon in the cafeteria. The K-2 program will begin at 1:00 and 3-5 at 1:45. All students who are being recognized will bring home invitations for parents to attend. That wraps up events for the week ahead, and I hope you have a great evening.
