👩⚕️🧑⚕️ Hands-on learning in action at Lincoln County School of Technology!
Our Nursing Fundamentals students wrapped up their Infectious Disease Unit with some critical skill practice:
✅ Proper use of PPE (gowns, masks, eyewear, gloves)
✅ Collecting specimens under transmission-based precautions
✅ Safely disposing of equipment to prevent contamination
To put their training to the test, students even practiced removing “contaminated” gloves (with a little help from some chocolate pudding 💩🍫) — all without cross-contamination.
These real-world experiences prepare our future healthcare professionals to keep patients safe while building confidence in their skills. 👏

📚✨ Reading Buddies at Rock Springs!
Mrs. Curry’s fourth graders visited Miss Shelley’s second graders for a special reading time. 💬 The fourth graders practiced their fluency by sharing poems, while the second graders worked on accuracy by reading books to their older buddies. Such a great way to learn together! ❤️ #WeAreLINCOLN #RockSpringsElementary #ReadingBuddies

📜 Happy Constitution Day!📜
Today we honor the signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787 — a document that laid the foundation for our democracy and continues to shape the freedoms we enjoy today.
In classrooms across our district, students are learning about the Constitution’s lasting impact, the importance of civic responsibility, and how “We the People” have the power to keep our democracy strong.
Let’s take a moment to reflect on the rights, freedoms, and responsibilities that unite us all. 💙❤️

✨ Last week across LCS, students and staff showed us the power of courage, creativity, and leadership!
📸 In Mrs. Wayne’s class at PCP, students paused to remember 9/11.
✏️ Ms. Balzer’s class at SJES decorated journals as they launch their pen pal project with Atrium’s hospital nurses.
📚 Mrs. Bilsky & Mrs. Sprouse’s kindergarteners teamed up with Mrs. Ferro’s 5th graders to read dino-count books, while Mrs. Toler’s class celebrated reaching their 20-minute reading stamina goal!
🗳️ Union Elementary’s Student Lighthouse Leadership Team held elections—students are stepping up to campaign and make a difference in their school community.
🔢 At Battleground, Mrs. Hudgins’ class had a blast exploring equal groups with hands-on activities.
🍎 Board Chair Christina Sutton visited G.E. Massey to spend time with the Child Nutrition team—one of the many cafeteria crews making magic happen every day. (Fun fact: Angie Carpenter even works on the summer movers crew!)

💡 Flashback Friday 💡
This week we’re highlighting another former LCS student who is now making an impact as an LCS staff member!
Meet Mrs. Kristen Walker Dickson — once a student at Catawba Springs, East Lincoln Middle, and East Lincoln High, and now a dedicated teacher at North Lincoln Middle. Kristen says she has so many fond memories from her time as a student, especially the joy of friends, recess, and fun-filled school days that made her happy to come to school.
She chose to return to Lincoln County Schools because it’s home. “This community poured into me and I want to do the same for our students. I love that I have the opportunity to build relationships with students every day. It is meaningful to be consistent and present in their lives and I want to help create that experience for my students.”

🎨🎶 Fine Arts Spotlight: High School Edition 🎶🎨
Our high school fine arts programs are full of talent, tradition, and exciting opportunities! Here’s what’s happening across LCS:
✨ Susan Lanier – Lincolnton High, Visual Arts
This year, more students are getting hands-on with ceramics, drawing, painting, and AP Studio Art. With the rich local history of Catawba Valley potters, students are connecting their learning to folk artists right here in their own community. 🏺🎨
✨ Brooke Russell – North Lincoln High, Visual Arts
North Lincoln students are pushing for excellence through school beautification projects and art competitions. Their talent has already been recognized with honorable mentions in the Aviation Art Contest and at the NCASA Art Showcase state competition. 🖌️🏆
✨ Jacob Brittain – West Lincoln High, Band & AP Music Theory
The West Lincoln Concert Band has been invited to open for the Catawba College Wind Ensemble on Oct. 7 at Catawba College. 🎼
The Marching Band’s 2025 Production, “Music is Everything,” is gearing up for Friday night football and Saturday competitions.
For the first time in school history, the Marching Band will travel to Atlanta, GA, to compete in the Bands of America Southeastern Regional Competition on Nov. 1. 🎺✨
👏 We’re proud of our high school fine arts teachers and students for their creativity, excellence, and dedication to their craft. Lincoln County is shining bright through the arts!

🇺🇸 We Remember.
Today, on September 11, we pause to honor the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the countless acts of courage and compassion shown on that day and in the days that followed.
We are forever grateful for the bravery of first responders and the resilience of our nation.

🎨 Students in Ms. Brooke Russell’s Drawing 2 class at North Lincoln High practiced contour line drawing by observing shoes. 👟 They drew several times and overlapped the images with different colors, creating bold and dynamic line compositions. Such a fun way to turn practice into art! ✏️✨
