January is National Mentoring Month, and we are proud to celebrate the mentors who show up, listen, encourage, and believe in our students every day. 💙
Across our schools, mentors help students build confidence, set goals, and see what’s possible for their future. Sometimes it’s academic support. Sometimes it’s a check-in or a word of encouragement. Always, it’s about connection.
Thank you to the educators, staff members, volunteers, and community partners who invest their time and hearts into mentoring. Your guidance makes a lasting difference—one student, one relationship, one moment at a time.
We would love to have you as a mentor! If you are interested, visit the website linked below and reach out to a school principal!

✨ Flashback Friday! ✨
Today we’re featuring Mrs. Beth Mauney Ludwig — a proud Lincoln County Schools graduate who is now giving back to students at West Lincoln High School!
📚 Mrs. Ludwig attended G.E. Massey, Asbury, Lincolnton Middle, and Lincolnton High. She remembers the many wonderful teachers she had, but especially credits Mrs. Deanna Moretz for making math “click” in high school. Mrs. Ludwig recalls, “She had such patience and wit about her that all my previous fears seemed to melt away, and my confidence grew.”
🍎 Today, Mrs. Ludwig serves as the Career Development Coordinator in the CTE department at WLHS. She is passionate about helping students succeed and values the strong sense of collaboration and support among LCS educators.
💬 Mrs. Ludwig shares:
“What I love most about my job is helping students with career planning. Many students feel uncertain about their future, and making that decision can be overwhelming. I enjoy engaging in discussions with them to learn more about their interests and aspirations, allowing me to provide meaningful resources to help them make informed choices.
It’s incredibly satisfying when a career conversation leads to a student signing up for an internship, even if they discover that the career they initially considered isn’t the right fit. Students need to understand that it’s perfectly acceptable to pivot and change directions; doing so does not equate to failure. This realization brings me the greatest satisfaction in my work.”
💙 Thank you, Mrs. Ludwig, for your dedication to our students and for inspiring them to dream big while reminding them that it’s okay to change direction.
