Leader in Me – Habit 5 in Action!
This week, students are learning about Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood — the habit of good communication!
The most important skill in this habit? ✨ Attentive Listening.
Highly effective people don’t just wait for their turn to talk. They:
• Listen with their eyes 👀
• Listen with their ears 👂
• Listen with their heart ❤️
• Try to truly understand before responding
When students become attentive listeners, they build stronger friendships, solve problems more peacefully, and grow as leaders.

Happy National Apprenticeship Week! Kevin Mondragon Arenas, currently a Senior at East Lincoln High School, is a 1st year apprentice at Blum. He currently attends half his day at ELHS and then goes to BLUM to complete his training. Along with this he is taking courses to get his Associates through CPCC and will end his program with a Journeyman's Certificate.
Kevin has really enjoyed learning the machines and getting to work on them even though they are very tedious! He also says teamwork is a really valued part of his apprenticeship and helps him succeed in the program!

This Week in Leader in Me: 🩺 Diagnose Before You Prescribe
This week, students are learning an important leadership habit:
Before jumping to solutions, pause and understand the problem first.
Highly effective leaders don’t rush to “fix” things.
They listen, ask questions, and look deeper before offering help.
💡 Great reminder for school and home:
Understanding comes before solving.
