Good evening, LHS! We’re back for a full, five day week this week and it will be full of events and opportunities for students to be involved! Here’s a full list of what’s going on at LHS. This week our Beta Club-sponsored canned food drive continues. Students are encouraged to bring canned and boxed food items to help stock the Christian Ministries food pantry in town. Items will be collected through next Monday, so there is still plenty of time to contribute! On Tuesday, LHS will be offering the ASVAB test for students. Sign-ups are in the main office and students are still open through Monday afternoon. The ASVAB helps to measure student abilities as a way to predict future academic and career pathways that will match best with those abilities. After testing, students will receive a score report with their results as well as next steps for exploring what those results may mean for their future. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to guide their thinking toward post-secondary options and we encourage all Wolves to participate! Students who missed Work Keys testing will make up those tests on Wednesday. More information about times and locations will be shared with those students through email. Friday will be Asbury Resource Center’s Winter Shopping Day. If you or your family would like the opportunity to shop for gently-used clothing, coats, and shoes, please contact your student’s counselor to sign up for a time. In club news, our Pickleball Club will meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 at Betty Ross Park. The club is open to all students–those with no experience and those with lots of experience. Our Interact Club will meet on Friday at 7:20 in Ms. Macomson’s room. We are very proud of our soccer team who will compete in the regional finals on Tuesday against Southwestern Randolph High School in Asheboro at 6pm. Congratulations too, to our wrestling team who kicked off their season on Saturday at the Ironman Open in Cherryville. 5 wrestlers placed at the end of this tough competition! Wrestling will continue their season by hosting a quad match at home on Wednesday against Patton, Cherryville, and South Caldwell. And, our basketball teams will play their first home games on Tuesday against Cherryville. The JV girls game will start at 4:00pm with all other games to follow. Tickets are $8. As a reminder, the LCS Fan Code of Conduct governs basketball games. All students and children under high school age must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian. Fans who use offensive language or display aggressive behavior will be asked to leave. Security scans and bag checks will be conducted as well. Please remember that weapons and tobacco products (vapes, cigarettes, chewing tobacco, and paraphernalia) are prohibited. We want our focus to be on having fun and supporting our student athletes, so we appreciate you, in advance, for modeling good sportsmanship during our basketball season! Thank you for your support of our school, students, and staff! Have a great week!
