Last week was National Bus Safety Week. The safety of our students is a priority. On Friday, October 25th, our classes had the opportunity to go out to our buses and review bus safety guidelines and expectations. Students also participated in a bus evacuation drill.

October is AAC Awareness Month! AAC or Augmentative and Alternative Communication are the laminated communication boards and devices that people who are minimally or non speaking use to communicate. In order to learn that AAC can be their voice, children have to see adults around them “modeling” or touching the boards/devices while they talk. This teaches children that they can use AAC to ask for things and make friendships!
For week four of our Next Top Modeler competition here at Love, staff are counting the times they model AAC with students and the one with the most times gets a basket made up of items and gift cards from the amazing local businesses that donated to this event!
Our fourth Love Memorial’s Next Top Modeler is Nicole Owensby! Nicole is a teacher assistant in a self-contained adapted exceptional children’s classroom and she has been steadily increasing her modeling throughout the month to become one of our top modelers! Thank you, Nicole, for consistently supporting your students' human right to communicate!
Our other modeling superstars this week are: Virginia Myers, Tabitha Willis, Amanda Williams, Carrie Oaks, Amy Savage, Ashley Spargo, Kaitlyn Cloninger, Grace Goins,
Thank you to the businesses that donated to our challenge this month!

Love Memorial/Mrs. Hoffman

Sawyer, Hayden, and Graci are the very first students to be nominated for a Love Leads Award. This is a POSITIVE office referral at Love Memorial.
To be nominated a student must demonstrate one or more of the seven leadership qualities we promote in Lincoln County Schools.
Mrs. Hoffman, Mr. May, and Ms. Biggerstaff's day is absolutely made when they get this type of official referral!

Family night at Love was a lot of fun and we want to take a moment to recognize a few student leaders who worked at the event. These students shared leadership activities to try at home with last night's participants.

Check out what our youngest cardinals in the nest have been up to this week!
A note from Mrs. Broome: Pre-k is doing a unit on trees and as we learn foods that grow from trees we made homemade applesauce for our snack!

Family Science Night Pictures. We hope you had fun and learned a lot!

The school election was ran and verified by Mrs. Campbell's 5th grade AIG students. Students spent time designing the voting space to create the most efficient traffic patterns, learning procedures for poll workers, then using technology to certify the results. Mrs. Campbell is very proud of her cardinals and the hard work they put in to make sure the election was a success!

Today has been an exciting day here at Love Memorial students, faculty, and staff cast their votes for who they believe should be the next President. Today’s vote also determined what our school cardinal mascot would look like and the mascot’s name. Stay tuned for the official results.

Mark your calendars for Family Science Night

White Out Day at Love

Our kindergarteners traveled to West Lincoln High today to participate in the Rebel Journey. The seniors of WL High provided a gift to each of our future Rebels.

Mrs. Campbell's 5th graders will be running a school wide election next week. On Wednesday, Ms. Biggerstaff, who has worked elections in Lincoln County for years, came to discuss the logistics and procedures for holding an election.

Yesterday books came to life as students and staff dressed as characters from literature!
